i just watched the local bbc news and there was a story about a woman who'd fed her baby while sitting on a public bench.
she finished and was on her way when a police car drew up beside her and asked her to stop.
there had been a complaint.
So sad. That must have been really humiliating for her.
I don't see any problem with breastfeeding in public as long as the mother is being reasonably discreet - which most do have the sense to be - to avoid potential embarrassment to others.
On the same subject, I heard on the radio a few nights back that they are thinking of outlawing breastfeeding in public again, I'm sure they only legalised it a couple of years ago, what's the sense in that?

I think a Christian can lose their salvation - as someone else already mentioned, that's free will.
The question is, would a Christian, being fully aware of their salvation and its benefits actually want to lose it?
If a Christian doesn't realise the full cost and extent of their salvation, it would be easier for them to fall away - this is where the ultra-Calvinist would question whether such a person was ever saved in the first place.
Another point to remember is that in Paul's theology, nobody is fully saved until the final judgement. All Christians have at the moment is the down payment of the Holy Spirit to give them hope/assurance of salvation. That's why we carry on sinning, and that's why blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is unforgivable (maybe 'broadly' comparable with Esau who sold his birthright cheaply, thus losing his inheritance?).

sounds stupid, right?
but i guess some have wonderful jobs, and money isn't everything.. how about you, what's the minimum you'd need to win to say, good bye boss ?
I like my job too much as well. If I got a lot of money I'd probably go part-time rather than give up all together.
If I'd still been in my previous job, even 'just' £100k would have seen me say good riddance.
sometimes people do things too me that just rub me up the wrong way... and out comes evil miss peaches....!
i can't help it... this weird evil side of my personality displays itself.
for example if i'm in traffic and someone is tailgating me i deliberately slow down to a couple of kms per hour below the speed limit.
Don't make me angry.....you won't like me when I'm angry!!
I think I must fall into the P-A category too. Depending on how I am when someone annoys me I'll either shout at them, go into an angry sulk or bawl my eyes out. I don't often go for overt revenge, but if I do they'd better watch out!

i know i have made comments about the benefits of jwd but i have some thoughts about this.. for the person who is having doubts and is looking for some confirmation or information jwd provides a wealth of both.
and if it isn't posted here on the board someone usually has a link to answer questions.
for those who have been hurt by the shunning policy or been abused in some way jwd offers wonderful people who understand because they have "been there" too.. for those who are recently out of the wts and are trying to build a new life there are many to encourage and support them.. even those of us who have been here and out of the wts for a long time there is encouragement and friendship.. for those who love a good debate, there is usually a willing jw to try to take them on.. there are some great sites on the internet that provide information.
I don't know how I'd have survived the last few months without you guys. You are truly helping me through my healing with all the support and advice you've given.
Because I grew up to be neither seen or heard I find it really hard to talk even to friends about how I feel, and as for social skills, they're virtually zero! For me this is a safe place both to express my feelings and to learn how to interract without feeling too stupid or guilty.
to all those that have pet cats and/or dogs, what do you feed them?
it is said that tinned cat/dog food is made with all sorts of horrible things such as anything from an animal that's not fit for human consumption, intestines, spleens, blood, hide, plus dead animals, feathers chemically treated to become digestible protein and rancid discarded oils from restaurants.
cheap cereal fillers are added to lower production costs.
I feed my cats James Wellbeloved dry food. It's got natural ingredients and afaik the meat content is organic.
There are some canned foods which only use 'good' ingredients - they tend to be expensive though so it often works out cheaper to get dry food.
Looks like exceptionally good time management to me!
